​Due to their ongoing success, our client has a great opportunity for an Associate Civil Engineer to join their team. You will be expected to work on a variety of projects assisting teams in the design and development of major infrastructure and highway schemes. It is a vital requirement that you have worked collaboratively with colleagues’ clients and wider professional teams.

Role and responsibilities

  • Develop concept design and be actively involved with all projects under your direction.

  • Produce and approve of single and multi-discipline fee proposals for customer projects.

  • Influence development and infrastructure master-planning using knowledge of Highways Act 1980, Water Industry Act 2004, Land Drainage Act, New Roads and Street Works Act, and other statutory instruments.

  • Understand financial control when acting as a project manager.

  • Identify and manage project risks and preparation of risk assessments.

  • Carry out professional development and maintaining records in accordance with a professional status.

  • Generate work while leading a team and providing team management.

  • Offer leadership, mentoring and motivation to engineers.

  • Confidently deal with complex issues.

  • Deliver multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.

  • Liaise with colleagues and construction professionals throughout the design and construction process.

  • Undertake and arrange effective mentoring of employees under your direction.

  • Support other senior team members in management of resource pool to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Represent the company at design team meetings.

  • Assist in the recruitment, retention and management of staff and ensure successful outcomes for our customers.

  • Contribute to business development activities and marketing as required.

Software capabilities

  • AutoCAD, PDS Site Developer / Civil 3D, XP Solutions suite, Micro-drainage, MS Project or similar, TEDDS, and other industry recognised software.

Education requirements

  • Chartership with either Institution of Civil or Structural Engineering.
